What
is Broadband Wireless Internet Access Service?
Broadband Wireless Internet Access Service delivers a high capacity data connection
to a customer site, using RF links for the "last mile" connectivity.
This technology is based on Point-to-Multipoint wireless networks,
installed by the service provider. Equipment at the customer site
consists of a radio modem which is used to establish the link to the
provider's nearest "Base Station". Access speeds of up to
155 Mbps can be offered using this technology. |

How
does Point-to-Multipoint wireless technology work? How does it differ
from Point-to-Point wireless links?
In a Point-to-Multipoint system, there are multiple "base stations"
across a city, each covering a particular area. The antennas used
at the base station end are sector-based, and each sector is typically
30, 60 or 90 degrees. Each sector can have multiple customers, each
with different access speed. Access speed can be configured from a
central Network Management System.
Point-to-Point links are used to directly connect 2 locations within
a city, without any service provider or base station network in between.

What
is Bandwidth on Demand and relocation?
Gateway Systems offer a unique feature of allowing customers to use
more bandwidth, than what is signed, for shorter periods of time.
For example, if there are some big files to be uploaded / downloaded
on the Internet, the customer can opt for higher bandwidth for a few
days, with prior notice. This kind of flexibility is made possible
only with wireless technology. Use of wireless technology gives us
the flexibility to relocate your link, to a different premise, within
72 hrs subject to "Line of Sight" at the new location. |

Do
rainfall or other radio sources interfere with the transmission?
The link will not be affected under rainfall conditions. All the links
are radio engineered to be working under ITU-N rain zone conditions.
(India falls under ITU-N rain zone). Due to this the high availability
is maintained under rainfall conditions.
Gateway Systems uses spectrum that is exclusively allocated by the
WPC in various cities. This ensures that no other radio source can
interfere in the transmission. |
